Tigre: Couples Retreat...Where's Leverett?

A few weekends ago I went to Tigre. It is about thirty minutes Northwest of BsAs. Tigre lies on the Parana Delta and sits on an island created by several small streams and rivers.  The main means of transportation is by boat.   We stopped at the Puerto de Frutos which is a crafts fair located in the old fruit market by the riverside.  We had free time to walk around, grab a bit to eat and shop.  The vendors were selling a lot of the same products, but I only found one fudge stand!  I tried their chocolate fudge with chocolate chunks, almonds and white chocolate drizzled on top. Deeelicious :)  Our next stop was the Museo de Arte de Tigre.  Supposedly one of the best Museums and unfortunately we were not able to go because it was flooded due to the Santa Rosa Storm.  So we went straight to the hotel. This hotel is only accessible by boat. The boat ride from the markets was about one in a half hours. We climbed off the boat, up the grand staircase to an absolutely breathtaking resort.  You walk on a narrow deck straight to the main cabin and dining and to both sides of it are the rooms in individual cabins.  Behind the main cabin is the infinity pool that overlooks the inlet that leads back to the river.  After getting our room keys and settling in, we went and relaxed by the pool, drank tea, snacked on pastries and played cards.  When it cooled down I went into the main cabin. I opened the door took a big whiff and it smelled just like Aunt Liz's cabin.  It was quite pleasant, but how does it smell the same 6,000 miles away? It made me feel at home. I sat by the fire place and read until dinner at ten.  It was hard to enjoy peace and quiet when you travel with 16 sorority girls...need I say more? ..but I managed to escape them, they were not going to ruin my trip.  That night at dinner I sat with the two chaperons and my friend Allison at a table next to "the girls". They finished off 12 bottles of wine during dinner and who knows how many after. The six guys on the trip finished 10 bottles of wine. Their goal: to get as drunk as possible.  Luckily my cabin wasn't anywhere near the obnoxious girls.  I was the best night of sleep I have had since I arrived in BsAs.  The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and then the owner gave us a walking tour of the island.  All of "the girls" are city girls, SO that said, they freaked out when we had to walk through mud because they didn't want to get their boots dirty, and the tiniest spider possible...screamed bloody murder. After the walk we could kayak or paddle boat. I hopped in a kayak and paddled away real fast. But of course I checked the kayak first to make sure there were no snakes! :)  I paddled out into the river and I think I was going south, but I'm not sure. I discovered a ton of berry trees between the resort and the next property which was about one mile away. It was fun to watch the fish swim alongside my kayak.  As I headed back to the resort, the owner and chaperon from IES, Matias, were in a small motor boat making sure all the kayakers/paddle boaters were alive.  When I got back to shore, Matias said, "Alyssa you are so quick in the kayak, do you race at home?"  Hahaha.  After that I sat by the pool and soaked up some sun.  It was so nice to get out of the city and enjoy fresh air and greenery.
